California: Impact of E-Rate

State reports

Example of impact
In funding year 2004-2005, E-Rate provided E-Rate eligible California public schools a total of $261,302,462 in funding commitments (Source: E-Rate Central). Those funds were received exclusively by schools who serve California students who qualify for the National School Lunch Program and free and reduced-price lunches. What would be lost without E-Rate? In many California schools serving students who live in impoverished communities, E-Rate is the only opportunity to become computer litE-Rate. E-Rate provides computer literacy for students who otherwise would not have Internet and computer access. E-Rate levels the playing field. E-Rate ultimately opens the door to financial, economic, and scientific literacy for whole communities of students who otherwise would have very limited opportunity to acquire that literacy. What would be lost without E-Rate? All the innovative contributions to humanity those students will able to make in their adult lives because they have been given a level playing field as a result of E-Rate discounts.
